Speed Bridging for Beginners: Ninja, Moonwalk, or Godbridge?
You're in Bedwars. The enemy is rushing your bed. You're building a bridge to their island.
One block. Shift. One block. Shift. One block...
By the time you arrive, your bed is broken and they've started tea-bagging.
It's time to learn speed bridging.
Quick Answer Box
Bridging Technique Comparison:
| Technique | Speed | Difficulty | Recommended For | |-----------|-------|------------|-----------------| | Normal Bridge | 1x | Easy | Complete beginners | | Ninja Bridge | 2x | Medium | Beginners learning speed | | Moonwalk | 2.5x | Medium-Hard | Intermediate players | | Godbridge | 3x | Very Hard | Advanced players | | Breezily | 3.5x | Expert | Showoffs only |
Start with Ninja, then progress to Moonwalk.
Normal Bridging (The Baseline)
This is what you're probably doing now:
The Technique
- Walk to edge of block
- Hold shift (sneak)
- Look down
- Place block
- Walk forward
- Repeat
Why It's Slow
You stop moving every time you place a block. That's dozens of micro-stops over a 20-block bridge.
Speed
Approximately 2 blocks per second.
Ninja Bridging (Start Here)
The first speed technique every player should learn.
The Technique
- Walk to edge of block
- Tap shift briefly (don't hold)
- Place block during the shift tap
- Continue walking
- Repeat
The Key
You're only sneaking for 0.1 seconds—just enough to prevent falling. The rest of the time, you're walking normally.
Rhythm
Walk-TAP-Place-Walk-TAP-Place
Speed
Approximately 3.5 blocks per second. Nearly 2x faster than normal.
Practice Drill
- In a custom game, build a starting platform
- Practice ninja bridging to a target 20 blocks away
- Focus on consistency, not speed
- Once consistent, increase speed
Moonwalk Bridging (Intermediate)
Moonwalking looks impossible the first time you see it.
The Technique
- Face TOWARD your destination (not down)
- Hold A or D (strafe key)
- While strafing, look down at 45-degree angle
- Place blocks as you move backward
- Time jumps to reset position
Why It's Called Moonwalk
You're literally walking backward while placing blocks—like Michael Jackson.
Speed
Approximately 4 blocks per second. Significantly faster than ninja bridging.
The Difficulty
You can't see your destination while bridging. Requires spatial awareness and practice.
Practice Drill
- Mark a target on one island
- Start moonwalk bridging toward it
- Stop periodically to check alignment
- Repeat until you can bridge straight
Godbridging (Advanced)
Godbridging is the fastest technique that's reliably usable in combat.
The Technique
- Walk forward normally
- Look straight down
- Click at exactly 12 CPS (clicks per second)
- Each click places a block as you walk over the edge
- Timing is perfect—any delay = fall
The Key
Your clicks must synchronize with your movement. Too slow = you fall. Too fast = blocks don't place.
Speed
Approximately 5 blocks per second. 2.5x faster than normal bridging.
Why It's Hard
The timing window is about 0.05 seconds. You MUST click exactly as you step off the edge.
Practice Drill
- Use a metronome set to 720 BPM (12 per second)
- Practice clicking to the beat
- Once rhythm is natural, try bridging
Breezily Bridging (Expert)
For when you need to assert dominance.
The Technique
- Face perpendicular to bridge direction
- Strafe diagonally
- Spam click while strafing
- Add jumps for extra style
Speed
Approximately 6 blocks per second. The fastest possible.
Consistency
Even pros only hit this 60-70% of the time. It's a style technique, not a reliable one.
Which Technique Should You Learn?
Progression Path
| Skill Level | Learn This | |-------------|------------| | New to PvP | Normal bridging | | 1 week experience | Ninja bridging | | 1 month experience | Moonwalk | | 3+ months | Godbridging | | Sweatlord | Breezily |
The Reality
99% of players never need beyond moonwalking. It's fast enough to win Bedwars games at any level.
Godbridging is impressive but risky. One misclick = void death.
Hardware for Bridging
Mouse Settings
| Setting | Recommendation | |---------|----------------| | CPS | 10-14 clicks/second | | Double click | Off | | Debounce | 4-10ms |
Keyboard
Any keyboard works, but mechanical keyboards have more consistent key response.
Ping
High ping makes bridging HARDER. Each technique requires tighter timing with 100+ ms ping.
Bridging on Different Surfaces
Block Types
| Block | Difficulty | |-------|------------| | Wood planks | Normal | | Wool | Normal | | End stone | Normal | | Slime | Bouncy (dangerous) | | Ice | Slippery (difficult) |
Tip
Load your hotbar with simple blocks (wool, terracotta) for bridging.
Common Fails
The Overconfidence
You learn ninja bridging, immediately try godbridging, fall 10 times in a row, rage quit.
Fix: Progress slowly. Weeks between technique upgrades.
The Panic Click
Enemy shoots at you mid-bridge. You panic, misclick, fall.
Fix: Practice under pressure. Have friends shoot at you during practice.
The Look Up
You check your destination mid-godbridge. Looking up = no block placement = fall.
Fix: Trust your direction. Only look during ninja/moonwalk.
